Ralph Talmont is a location photography specialist with twenty years's experience in the field.
Having received his first camera for his ninth birthday (he still has it) he never looked back and turned professional on leaving university in 1983. Since then he has photographed communications and publishing projects throughout New Zealand and around the world for clients as diverse as Siemens, Telecom and New Zealand Geographic magazine.
"Being a location specialist actually means I get to shoot most things outside of a studio", he says pointing to photographs which hang on his wall. Over the course of his career Ralph has photographed architecture and religious festivals, superyachts and Formula 1 racing, industry and musicians at work and many other subjects. "I'm at home on the road, wherever that may be. My bags are always packed!"
Books are his continuing passion and there is a steadily growing bookshelf of Ralph's titles which include the recent "Legends of the Land" (Reed, 2000) and his large monograph "Auckland: A Portrait" (Barkfire Press, 1997)
He shoots in all formats but particularly enjoys capturing the wide view with a panoramic camera. When not on the road, he works on improving his rapidly rusting drumming skills or keeps warm the seat in front of his computer.
